Frequently asked questions

Here are some answers to the most frequent questions regarding booking onto a Mindfulness and Art Retreat. However, please do get in touch if there is anything else that I have not covered. Just message me here

I’m not very creative, will I be ok?

Absolutely! Everyone works at their own pace, and the groups are kept small for individual attention.

The sessions are friendly and relaxed, with no pressure to be perfect. Inclusion is really important to me and I understand some people may feel desperately shy and nervous. All materials are supplied, and with a beautiful location you are sure to be inspired to be creative and soon feel relaxed.

What time does it start and finish?

We “officially” start at 10am however if you can be there for around 9.30am for refreshments and getting settled. The last boat ride is 4pm or if you prefer to stay and paint this will finish by 4.30pm

Do I need to bring anything?

Wear old clothes that you don’t mind getting paint on them. Perhaps bring an apron. I have arranged for a buffet lunch with freshly made cakes and ample tea and coffee all day. However, if you have any specific dietary requirements, please let me know beforehand when booking.

Can I bring my partner /non painting friend?

Well yes and no. Unfortunately they cannot attend the actual studio venue as it can put other people off the experience of creating, as they feel self conscious. However, there is lots to see and do at Rudyard Lake especially if they enjoy walking or hire a boat or indeed go on the small train ride. There is also the coffee shop under the studio selling sandwiches and breakfast baps. Rudyard Lake Hotel is five/ten minutes walk and has a restaurant tea room and pub garden. In addition, Leek town is also a nice place to visit. Find out more here

Further a field is Macclesfield to explore, although this is not quite on the door step.

Women only event…why?

Yes as this is a new event, it has been specially requested by a lot of my female clients. I do have plans for future events for mixed couples, hens parties, and business groups. Please contact me to be kept updated here especially if you have an idea for a future colaboration. I’m happy to put on a male only ruby club event if need be yell
In fact this is proving so popular, I have added another event “Art for All” for adult on the 1st October. Find out more here

Disabled Access

Yes, I’ve got you covered as there is a lift and plenty of room upstairs for wheel chairs. However, please let me know prior to booking if you have access issues or need support.

Can I cancel?

You can change your mind within 14 days of booking unless you have booked 14 days prior to the start of the event. If you cancel within 30 days prior to the start date of the event you will receive a full refund less £25 admin fee.

If you need to cancel within 30 days of the start of the course, then unfortunately fees cannot be refunded. Art materials are ordered and paid for in advance, including paying for room hire and catering etc., A lot of preparation goes into each event including planning and preparation. Perhaps a friend could attend in your place?

Boat ride is not for me

Please let me know when booking and we can use that time instead to continue painting at the venue instead.
