Windmill Radio Stafford interview Joan Kennedy Artist

Windmill Radio interview – My Life As An Artist

I was interviewed at Windmill radio about my life as an artist recently. So grab yourself a brew (or something stronger) and relax here with me. The interview above reveals a little bit more about me and why I do what I do. It’s about my life as an artist and how I started and how I have come to this place in my life. You can listen to my interview above.

I was so excited to receive a call from D.J. Rachael Robb of Windmill Radio in Stafford. She contacted me as she wanted to interview a Staffordshire based artist. She asked could she interview me about my life as an artist.  Rachael runs her own show called  “Arts and Culture At Windmill radio station in Stafford. She said it was going to be an hour-long interview all about my life. She wanted to interview me about my thoughts on art and music. I had to pick five songs that perhaps had some special meaning to me.

The afternoon of the interview, I arrived early ahead of Rachel at this big old mill in the town of Stafford. I waited outside, with some of my paintings that Rachel asked could I bring along. Suddenly there was a massive downpour of rain, so by the time I got inside the mill, I was wet through

Inside The Mill Radio Station

I soon forgot how wet I felt as Rachel made me feel so relaxed and welcome. The mill is such a fascinating place. It must be at least a 100 years old, with many secret memories I’m sure. Over in the dusty corner window the nettles are growing through. The radio station is run voluntarily to try and pay for the upkeep and restoration of the mill.

Cup of tea

So, down we went on the stone stairway to the basement. The kettle went on and we had a chat and a catchup as we had not seen each other for a long time. Rachel also has her own business, and we met a few years back so it was lovely to see her again.

My Own Radio Station?

It was great fun been interviewed, and certainly, I easily managed to fill the hour. I guess people that know me will say I’m never short of words lol.  I had been interviewed on Leek Radio some years back so I knew what to expect. In fact, I enjoyed it so much, they have offered me my own slot and I am seriously considering taking up their offer.

Do let me know what you think of the interview? Have you ever been on radio? I’d love to know your thoughts
