What personal data I collect and why I collect it

The information collected may be your name, email address and in some cases your postal address and telephone number. This is the only information I would collect and do not have access to your financial information (such as payments). This is held securely by the processing companies.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site I collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. Contact forms – How I collect data

I use Mail Chimp to collect email addresses to enable me to keep in touch with people, advising them of perhaps my latest work, forthcoming workshops or fairs and events I will be attending.  You will only ever be added to this list if you have signed up for it through meeting me at an event and or either requested to be added or signed up via the website. Cookies

If you leave a comment on my site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year. If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so I can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

What rights you have over your data

If you have  left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to me. You can also request that I erase any personal data I hold about you. This does not include any data I am obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

How we protect your data

Mail Chimp hosts details of members on my mailing list on their protective server. I keep an electronic spreadsheet on my secure laptop which is password protected.

What third parties we receive data from

Google analytics is the only third parties I occasionally look at to show how the website is performing. Information such as the number of visitors to the site is supplied but no actual personal details is submitted.

Your rights
