Watercolour Retreats Days at Rudyard Lake
Spend a day at Rudyard Lake, surrounded by peaceful views and the gentle sounds of nature. This retreat day is about slowing down, relaxing, and enjoying time for yourself. In a small, friendly group, you can connect with others, chat, or simply soak in the calm. Watercolour workshops are part of the day, allowing you to explore a few techniques at your own pace, whether you paint a little or are just starting out, without pressure or expectation. All materials are provided, and a freshly made buffet lunch is included to enjoy while you unwind.
These retreat days are perfect for anyone who wants to step away from the everyday — whether it’s for yourself, or as a thoughtful gift for someone you care about. Many people book the day for a partner, a friend, or a family member, giving them time to relax, enjoy the surroundings, and reconnect with their creativity. The day is gentle and welcoming, with small group sizes to keep everything relaxed. You’ll spend time painting with watercolours, exploring simple techniques, and enjoying the calm of the lake without any pressure or expectation.
Relax by the lake, watch the water shimmer, and let the day slow down around you. Small group sizes mean you can enjoy quiet moments, connect with others, or simply take in the peaceful surroundings. Try new watercolour techniques at your own pace, play with colour, and leave feeling refreshed and inspired. Whether you’re treating yourself or giving a thoughtful gift, this retreat day offers calm, creativity, and connection.
“Wow Joan’s art retreat was a blast!
Lovely people and a great teacher. I’ve been once before as a birthday treat and this was my second time I will 100% be returning.
I’ve told a couple of friends how great it was and we are planning on coming together in march.
With Joan’s classes she doesn’t do “step by step” but instead teaches you techniques which enables you to go away and paint freely with the skills you have learnt. Highly recommend!
What I’ve really enjoyed most is experimenting with all the techniques
using all the different brushes.
I’ve learned so much and never
getting disappointed with what I’ve created.
It’s been so relaxing and so good
for the soul and I’d recommend anyone to come
“This retreat day was just fabulous. Can’t wait for the next one!”
“We much prefer to have a mum and daugther time like this than go clothes shopping.
It’s way more fun”
