Scruffy Dog Book
I thought I would add a speckled frogs illustration to the Scruffy Dog Book. Would you like to have a quick peek as to where I am up to with this illustration? I decided to just grab a pencil and come up with the concept of Scruffy dog, and his friends go to the river. This is where they meet some frogs on logs and a few other creatures buzzing about. Scruffy goes on quite a journey in trying to find a home and someone who will love and care for him.
Dragonflies
Dragonflies make a nice addition to the whole thing do you think? However I am trying to decide how many to add, and if they would be a distraction to the frogs, or a welcome addition. In addition there are bees buzzing around too and hopefully parents will use this part of the image to discuss the importance of bees with their child. Each page of the book will be around learning lots of different things hopefully.
Yesterday was spent looking at other types of art medium to use and I have come up with some exciting and different paints etc., which I can’t wait to use and show you. Watch this space
Five Speckled Frogs
At the moment I am thinking of the five speckled frogs nursery rhyme song. Somehow I am going to link the whole page to help children with their counting and numbers. Hence this is just the very early stages of ideas that I am playing about with. There is a nursery rhyme which you may know. It talks of five speckled frogs, that sat on a wooden log eating the most delicious grubs yum yum. Furthermore I am toying with the idea of adding the music notes to the bottom part of the image so parents can also help their child to learn to play the music. What do you think? Should I do that, or leave it out?
It’s coming along lovely Joan, I love all the ideas you have mentioned. If you do another dragonfly make it smaller or in the background maybe. I used to use all my boys books for counting even if they weren’t intended to be counting books, we would count the animals, the insects etc. Good luck x
Lovely to see the progress Joan. I like the idea of music notes running through the bottom of each page but remember your original purpose to enusure it does become too busy. Maybe something to consider a cd to go with it as an add on?? Love the dragon fly but perhaps a little smaller.
